JOB SUMMARY: Blue Landscape Contracting Group is seeking a dedicated and experienced Nursery and Facility Manager to oversee the daily operations and ensure the efficient functioning of our yard and nursery. In this role, you will be responsible for supervising and coordinating daily activities in the yard and nursery, overseeing the loading of materials, plant care, inventory management, and customer service. Additionally, you will maintain the cleanliness of the yard and nursery, ensure compliance with safety regulations, train and mentor staff members, and keep inventory records. The ideal candidate will possess excellent leadership and organizational skills, along with a deep knowledge of plant care and horticultural practices.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supervising and coordinating daily activities in the yard and nursery, including overseeing the loading of materials, plant care, inventory management, and customer service.
  • Maintaining the cleanliness of the yard and nursery, including organizing displays and managing product placement.
  • Completing and collecting daily material yard sheets and submitting them for processing.
  • Ensuring compliance with safety regulations and maintaining a safe working environment for staff and customers.
  • Training and mentoring staff members on proper plant care techniques and customer service skills.
  • Keeping updated inventory records of yard materials and informing the procurement department when orders are needed.
  • Receiving incoming deliveries, unloading, and storing them in appropriate places, and submitting tickets for payment.
  • Collaborating across departments to keep weed suppression, pest management, and maintenance of garden beds in place.
  • Monitoring irrigation setups and performing basic repair and troubleshooting as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; a degree in horticulture or a related field is preferred.
  • Experience with machine operation, including loaders, forklifts, etc.
  • Proven experience in a supervisory role within a nursery or similar environment.
  • Strong knowledge of plant care and horticultural practices.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with comfort in taking direction.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Physical stamina and the ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Experience in operating heavy machinery is helpful.
  • Valid driver's license and a clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).
  • Flexible availability regarding work hours during seasonal production activities, which may include nights, weekends, and overtime.
  • Ability to fulfill essential job functions, including working both indoors and outdoors, with exposure to a variety of weather conditions and uneven working surfaces.
  • Proficiency in Spanish is helpful but not required.

SCHEDULE:

  • Full-time position.
  • Availability for overtime work and occasional weekend shifts may be required.
  • Work hours may be longer during some parts of the season or may shift depending on weather conditions.
